Overview

Clinell Easy Clean Commode is the latest product created by our infection control specialists which incorporates multiple, patented design features. This is unquestionably the finest commode on the market today.

Although commodes are known to harbour dirt and germs in hard to clean areas, commode design has remained unchanged for years. They are notoriously difficult to clean properly and often have poor quality frames that rust and do not last.

This is why we have designed a revolutionary, easy clean commode with smooth rounded surfaces which contain no screws, nuts or bolts – therefore there are no hard-to-reach areas and no dirt will accumulate.

The commode dismantles very easily to allow for a complete clean.

The plastic seat cover has no stitching or foam, (both of which will guard against germ build up) and is conveniently stored at the back of the commode when in use.

The commode is designed to be multifunctional and allows for the use of both disposable and non-disposable bed pans. It can also be used over a toilet seat or in the shower. The hinged arms also allow for easy patient transferring to and from the commode. The commode allows for a weight of 190Kg (30stone).

Q: Why are commodes important in infection control?

A: Commodes are used frequently in hospitals and often are used by multiple patients on a ward. This means there is a chance of cross infection and in particular a Clostridium difficile infection being transferred between patients. Hence commodes must be decontaminated after every use and this must be done effectively. The problem is that commodes are notoriously difficult to disinfect and very commonly harbour pathogens that get transmitted between patients.

Q: What prompted GAMA to launch a commode?

A: GAMA is an infection control specialist company and we recognised a problem with all commodes on the market in that they are all very hard to clean and as such run the risk of transmitting infections between patients. Another problem was that all too often chlorine being used on commodes was damaging the surfaces and this in itself is an infection control risk as germs will sit in crevices and cracks and will be very hard to remove. GAMA decided to launch a commode that would revolutionise the sector and be the first commode in the world to have no nuts, bolts or screws. These are very common sites for pathogens to get into and are very difficult to decontaminate. By designing an easy to clean commode the risk of transmission will be greatly reduced. We also designed it to be resistant to staining, rusting or damage from various chemicals which will inevitably be used to disinfect after use.

Q: What are the key benefits to the Clinell Easy Clean Commode?

A: The key benefits are: • The easiest to clean commode on the market. • Safe to use chlorine, peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, quaternary ammonium compounds although the concentration of each will vary and you need to refer to our Technical department if you have any questions as to what you can and can’t use (also be aware that you cannot mix chemicals that are deemed to be safe individually and use them combined). • Can dismantle all the parts and reassemble very quickly. • Cost effective. Q: What are the cautions for the Clinell Easy Clean Commode?

A: The cautions are as follows: • Take care when touching moving parts. • Be careful when assembling the armrests as this is a possible fingertrap. • The commode must be cleaned and disinfected between each use. • Do not mix different types of disinfectants during cleaning. Do not use chlorine products before or after using peracetic acid products. • Do not use the commode if wet. • Do not use abrasive materials on the commode such as wire wool, isopropyl alcohol or chlorine at more than 5200ppm. • Do not place commode parts into washing disinfectors or steam sterilisers. • Do not use the commode if it is damaged or if parts are missing. • Lock all four wheels before seating a patient on the commode. • Lock armrests into place before seating a patient on the commode. • Do not lower beds onto the commode. • Do not stand on the footrests. • Do not use as a transport chair. • Do not push into doors, beds, cupboards or walls. • Do not leave a patient unattended whilst using the commode. • Do not stand on the commode. • Do not sit on the arms.

Q: How do you order parts or report a problem?

A: You can contact GAMA Healthcare should you wish to order any spare parts. Should you have a problem with the commode please take a note of the Lot number on your commode before you call. You will find this etched into the cross bar on the back of the frame.
